Round Table raised £300 for local charity “BOSP” (Brighter
Opportunities Through Supported Play).
This was achieved by members of round Table and the Essex
Road Cycling club taking to their bikes and cycling over 300
miles without moving an inch!!
On
Saturday 30th August, a team of riders took the
static bikes supplied by LA Fitness, in front of the Red Lion
pub and cycled for 5 hours.
All the riders cycled for half an hour and then swapped
with a teammate to take a well earned rest.
Each rider took the bikes several times throughout the
day and a grand total of 286 miles was completed.
Organiser
of the event, Mr Simon Poole (36), said “it was lucky that the
red lion was able to drive along behind us all the way to keep
us refreshed!”
Chairman
of Billericay Round Table, Mr William Fraser (39) stated “This
was an excellent opportunity for Round Table to support a local
charity that helps children do what children should be able to
do, and that’s play. We
are lucky to have such a charity as this in our town and we
wanted to do what we could to support them.
This
years ride is in aid of BOSP, a local organisation based in
Crown Yard, Billericay. BOSP
works to improve the quality of life for children and young
people with learning and/or physical disabilities. They
provide respite care in the form of safe play and social
activities with specialised and intensive support. They
support a full day Saturday respite term time, a youth Club term
time and holiday activities club through out the school
holidays.
RNLI Sail Away With £500 Donated By
Billericay Round Table

Billericay
Round Table have donated £500 to the RNLI at Burnham on Crouch
after 3 of its members took part in a sponsored row from Brandy
Hole Yacht Club at Hullbridge to Battlesbridge in Essex.
This
year was the first time that Scott had tackled the course.
On finishing he said “That was really hard work, the
wind was pushing us back all the time and I had to really pull
on my oars to get the little boat going”.
As
a boat owner Mark was especially pleased to help the RNLI.
“You never know when you are going to need help from
the RNLI but you can always be sure of their help when you need
it. This is
Table’s way of supporting them”.
