May was off to a flying start for Billericay Round Table. The inaugural Rotary Soap box derby on Bank Holiday Monday was a huge success and our distinctive ‘Rocket Racer’ took a podium finish after coming second in the wacky races class. Furthermore, our lads got stuck in to staffing one of the busier gates and enjoyed welcoming the community to another great local event. Watch Our YouTube Video > https://youtu.be/QbDzFUtZYKI A week later, some of the group spent an evening in Chelmsford attempting to solve a room full of wickedly tricky puzzles as part of the Escape Room experience. Let’s just say that it was touch and go whether or not one of the teams would make the night bus! Mud, glorious mud! The mid-May weekend saw us venturing once again into the Essex countryside to take on the 2016 Nuclear Rush ‘mudstacle’ race. Spread across 12km of farm and woodland, the course was a mix of trails, fields, lakes and ditches with up to fifty man-made and natural obstructions to get under, over, in and out of! The team were reunited with friends from BOSP (Brighter Opportunities through Supported Play) to have some good, but not-so clean fun together and managed to raise around £450 which will go towards helping support Essex families of children with complex disabilities. With summer just around the corner, we have plenty of great events lined up, including mountain biking, BBQ’s, a long weekend in Berlin and a fancy-dress Cricket match to name a few.
